Great menu and lots of options with gluten free menu and vegetarian options and potato salad is AHMAZING
Yum! A fresh egg salad sandwich on toasted multi-grain bread. Egg salad should be FRESH and at the Chat and Nibble it is exactly that ... and it is delicious! The toasting of the bread gives the sandwich a very light crunch as does the bright green lettuce. The egg salad itself is moist and flavorful and today the sandwich included a couple of thin slices of tomato. It comes with a side and twice now I have chosen coleslaw which is creamy and colorful with carrot slivers. A terrific old school combination that is truly crave-able! Service is always prompt, friendly, and efficient!
If you're looking for Le Bernadin or La Côte Basque, this ain't the place. But if you simply need some good eggs and toast, or great huevos rancheros, coffee and a little booth to sit in, The Chat is your place. Tasty and inexpensive, breakfast or lunch is served by a very pleasant, calm, attentive staff. What more can you ask for.
I've been here for breakfast many times but finally decided to give their lunch a try. I was very pleased. I opted for the chicken salad club with a side of macaroni salad-- everything was nice & fresh, including the lettuce & tomato in the sandwich. It was clear the salads were homemade (and not too mayo-y, which I hate!). Very tasty! Service was excellent. I love the shabby diner ambiance. The walls could probably use a good washing & perhaps a new coat of paint, but it's places like these that are the heart of Asbury Park. More of this, less of the polished, Instagram-ready establishments.
I met my daughters and their friends here Sunday morning for breakfast. We were seated in the patio out back. It was a delightful spot! There were 10 of us altogether. The staff was delightful. The menu selection was awesome- there was even a separate menu for benedicts (which I love). I had a Benedict with spinach and avocado, hash browns and a fruit salad. Delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meal. My husband commented on the generous portion size. This is a gem and I recommend looking it up. My phone died so no pictures of the food.
